HFF’s Mission Possible: Make HFF Obsolete

NGOs all over Haiti try to help children and families, each in their own ways, each with their own beliefs and assumptions about Haitians.

 HERE ARE OURS:

  •  Every child born in Haiti and elsewhere has a fundamental right to the care he or she needs to thrive;
  • Every child born in Haiti and elsewhere has a fundamental right to a family;
  • Parents in Haiti, like parents everywhere else, have the fundamental right to raise their children;
  • Families do not exist in a vacuum. We all give and receive help from others. This is what defines us;
  • “Family” can take many shapes;
  • Diversity makes us stronger;
  • Dignity is the hardest thing to see in others. But if we cannot see it in others, we do not possess it ourselves.

This is  Clercine and her children. You’ve read about them here. Their faces tell a story of poverty, sustenance, and survival.

But also of dignity. This is what we see in Clercine.
